 Suspenders (American English) or braces (British English) are fabric or leather straps worn over the shoulders to hold up trousers.
(although the use of buttons is now less popular).

In British English the term suspenders or suspender belt refers to a garter belt, used to hold up

stockings.

 Suspenders are constructed with an assortment of clips that hook onto the waistband, but they are also made with buttonholed braces that attach to regular shirt buttons that are sewn inside the pant's waistband.

 Suspenders(or Braces ) primarily attaching to trousers with clips or buttons, are elastic fabric straps that run over the shoulders to hold up trousers.
The entire strap of suspenders may be elasticated, or only at attachment ends, with the most of the straps being of woven cloth or silk.
Whilst the use of suspenders/braces is becoming less common, many business people still wear them, for either comfort or image. Indeed within the US, men,s suspenders are regarded as highly fashionable by fashion experts

 Suspender do,s and don,ts

  1. Lay the pants out flat and button the suspenders on the backside of the pants.
  2. If not, the suspenders will be reversed when the front is buttoned.
  3. The suspenders should fall almost to the waistband of the pants.
  4. There should be two small buttons for each side of the suspenders.
  5. The suspenders should give a bit but not be strained.
  6. If the suspenders look taut in the rear, release more fabric in the front and pull it to the rear to release tension on the back straps.
  7. Take a rear end peek of the suspenders in a long mirror.
  8. Don't button both sides of the suspenders and stretch them over the shoulders while attached to the pants.
    This wrinkles the shirt and quickly stretches the suspenders out of shape.
